Features and Material Selection
The hex body allows installation with standard tools. The flange provides an integrated bearing surface that can reduce the need for a separate washer where the assembly design permits. Confirm the mating surface and coating before using serrations, since they can mark the contact surface.
SS304 and SS316 options provide corrosion resistance for suitable environments. SS316 may be considered for more demanding exposure, but stainless steel is not corrosion-proof. Material grade alone does not establish the nut’s proof load, strength class, or suitability for a particular application; these requirements must be agreed before ordering.
The existing carbon steel and black oxide option is retained for projects that specify it. Finish compatibility and outdoor corrosion protection must be reviewed separately.
